Finland has strong competence base and fruitful conditions for digitalization, but the benefits of digitalization are weakly utilized among companies. In addition, Finnish companies need suitable business models for digital ecosystems as well as new product and service innovations to the international markets.
The digital servitization, i.e. the transformation from product to service-oriented digital business requires profound changes in the mind-set, roles and collaboration practices in the companies. Therefore, it is critical to find suitable tools and transformation journeys to support the creation of new international business in SMEs based on digitalisation. The aim of the project is to develop a toolbox and educational program for digitalization and servitization in industrial SMEs. New know-how and tools support digital product and service innovations in industrial companies.
The project is carried out by Design Centre MUOVA (VAMK Ltd. University of Applied Sciences) and management and industrial management Schools of University of Vaasa. THe project started in May, 2017 and lasts until the end of 2019. The project is funded by European Union ESF, ELY centre, University of Vaaas and VAMK Ltd. University of Applied Sciences and VASEK.
