These are among the questions discussed in the VETCombo project funded by Tekes Water Program. The aim of the project is to explore, develop and exploit user-driven service systems, which are built on collection, use and commercialization of diverse knowledge from the water ecosystem. Service design methods were used in the commersialization of the information.

The VETCombo project

1) promoted the efficient use of public information resources and systems for business

2) It was examined what kind of service system creates business based on water ecosystem-based information

3) piloted service design in the development of service production  both in public and private sector utilizing ICT technology

VETCombo project started at the beginning of August 2011, and lasted until the end of 2013. The project research partners are Environmental Sciences at the University of Helsinki, University of Helsinki, Lammi Biological Station, the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE), University of Jyväskylä, Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture and the Western Finland Design Centre Muova.
